Wild camping is exactly that....

I don't mean 'hanging around on street corners swinging my hand bag'. i am talking about the outdoor experience......"To survive in a wild environment using the elements that surround you."

In todays age it is harder to find areas to wild camp due to the shrinking lands of our country but it is not impossible. If you are lucky enough to find somewhere to go wild camping then i am guessing it is a well kept secret...

This doesn't mean that the things that you will find on this site wont be useful to people that camp the traditional way. I have and will use camp sites although i prefer not to, the wilder the better as far as i am concerned.

while my experiences grow my aim is to share them with you through this site. What are the rules of the land for Wild camping? this is a question everyone tends to be unsure about.

What i have found is...

Three main rules apply

  • Take responsibility for your own actions

  • Respect the interests of other people

  • Care for the environment at all times

other rules are as follows:

  • Keep groups small

  • Camp as unobtrusively as possible

  • Leave camp as you found it

  • Remove all litter (even other people's)

  • Carry out everything you carried in

  • Carry out tampons and sanitary towels (burying them doesn't work as animals dig them up again)

  • Choose a dry pitch rather than digging drainage ditches around a tent or moving boulders

  • Toilet duties should be performed 30m (100ft) from water and the results buried using a trowel

  • At all time, help preserve the environment

  • And if you are in any doubt about what you're doing, find out more
